Philipp Bosbach

studied in Cologne under Paul Szabo, cello player in the Vegh Quartet.

He spent three years of continuo playing in the class of recorder of Professor Guenther Hoeller.

At the age of 20 he became first principal cellist of Capella Clementina on historical instruments.In this period he did lots of concerts and recordings together with colleague Rainer Kussmaul under the baton of Helmut Mueller-Bruehl in European concert halls.

In 1979 he won his position in the Frankfurter Opern- und Museumsorchester, he quickly became solo baroque continuo player at Oper Frankfurt.

Freelance engagement in the chamber group Ensemble 415, where he spend 8 years next to Chiara Banchini.

In 1990 he founded the TRIO 1790. They started recording all Joseph Haydn´s piano trios and a lot of chamber works of early Wiener Classic.

Invitations followed in several other ensembles like Musica Antiqua Koeln, Rheinhard Goebel.

In 1998 he founded his own orchestra “Frankfurter Kapelle”, playing concerts on historical and modern instruments between chamber music and symphonic works.
